Curated stay

Firetower near Naggar

Naggar, Himachal

The stay

Imagine staying in a home inspired by American fire towers with windows all around and the Himalayas in view wherever you look. Inspired by American fire towers, this retreat has a distinctive design, with stone and wood bringing in a natural mountain feel. The 360-degree deck is a highlight, giving you plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy views of the Kullu Valley and the surrounding Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges.

Inside, you have a cosy living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dedicated workspace and a bathroom with a hot-water shower. The bedroom upstairs has a king-size bed and mountain views, while the high ceiling creates an additional loft space that children can enjoy. Wi-Fi, electricity and running water make it comfortable for a longer stay too.

The villa also has a lovely lawn with apple trees, giving you some open space to step outside and enjoy the mountain air. You can sit on the grass, spend some quiet time outdoors or simply enjoy the greenery around you. It’s a nice addition to the deck, especially if you prefer having a little space to relax outside without heading anywhere.

What I like about this place is the balance it offers. You’re close enough to town for market visits and everyday needs, yet away from the main tourist crowds. You can spend the day exploring the valley or simply stay in, cook something, get some work done and enjoy the views from the deck. The entire home is yours, so you can settle in and enjoy the mountains at your own pace.

There are scenic hiking routes around the property, perfect for a morning walk or a longer outing. Take your time, enjoy the mountain views, and keep an eye out for birds along the way.

  • Bonfire

A bonfire every evening with soft music and shooting stars can be arranged in garden.

  • Naggar Castle

Spend a few hours exploring Naggar Castle, known for its traditional Himachali architecture and mountain views. You can also visit the village’s old temples, which offer a glimpse into the region’s history and local culture.

  • Fish Farm

Visit a local fish farm on the highway and a glimpse of another side of life in the valley.

Food

The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking, whether you want to make tea, coffee or a quick meal. Groceries can also be arranged if you need them.
If you prefer to skip the cooking like us, you can order delicious home cooked meals. Just remember to order in advance, as everything is prepared fresh to order. And do try the pear achar, it was my personal favourite!

Good to know

  • Getting there

The property is around 2 km from highway near Patlikuhal. It's easily accessible by road. Its about 5 hrs drive from Chandigadh.

  • Walk from parking

The road’s final 500 metres are very narrow, allowing only one car to pass through, so driving up requires good driving skills and confidence on mountain roads. If you prefer not to drive up, there’s a short walk from the parking area, or pickup and drop-off can be arranged whenever you wish to go out.

  • Connectivity

Mobile network is generally available. WiFi is available at the homestay, but speeds can vary.
I did WFH for 5 days, took several teams and phone call while enjoying the views.
